This can be done using an overcladding product or applying a suitable sealant coating, which provides increased protection from impact damage and improved resistance to water, oil and grease.

The Health and Safety Executive recognise that asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) in many situations can be left in place as removal may have a higher environmental impact. If the ACM’s are left in place it is essential that their condition is regularly monitored.

Amongst the management options when leaving an ACM in place is encapsulation. There are many products on the market offering the encapsulation of asbestos. Manestream are proficient in all Encapsulation techniques including specialist coatings which prevent the surface spread of fire and impact resistant coatings where the risk of collision is high.

Another management option is to completely enclose the ACM. This may mean building boxing around the material or to erect a false partition forming a sealed compartment to prevent contact with the ACM.

Manestream also carry out repairs to small areas of damaged asbestos. Asbestos pipe insulation can be repaired using calico type and an elastomeric encapsulant. It may be possible to remove individual roof sheets and replace with a non asbestos sheet.
